Mr. Sajid M. Sheikh is an Electrical and Electronic Engineer, specialising in ICT, Computer Hardware, Networking, Graphic Designing, CCNA and CWNA Training. He is a BOTA Accredited Trainer in the area of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Mr. Sajid M. Sheikh holds qualifications of MSc (Masters in Science) in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of Botswana, BEng (Bachelor of Engineering) in Electrical and Electronic from the University of Botswana, CWNA(Certified Wireless Network Administrator) from Compuplus Training in Pretoria and CCNA 1, 2, 3 and 4 Instructor Courses from University of Botswana Cisco Academy. He also holds Diploma in Computer Maintenance from Genetic Computer School, Botswana. He holds membership of professional institutes in both Botswana and USA. He is a Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), USA and Graduate Member of Botswana Institution of Engineers since 2005.
He wrote his research thesis on “VoIP: Design, Implementation and a regulatory framework for Botswana” for his Masters Degree. The project he completed for his Bachelors Degree was a development of an Online Course using Macromedia Authorware. He delivered a research paper on “Development of a Low Cost PBX System in Developing Countries using Open Source Software,” at the 10th International Biennial Conference, Botswana organised by Botswana Institution of Engineers (BIE), Gaborone, Botswana.
On 8th October 2005 at the Graduation Ceremony, Mr. Sajid M. Sheikh was the Prize winner of the Dean’s Prize (Faculty of Engineering and Technology – University of Botswana) and The Lady Olebile Masire Prize (Faculty of Engineering and Technology – University of Botswana). The Dean’s Prize is awarded by the senate annually to a final year student adjudged academically the most outstanding in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology with a degree average mark of at least 75%. The Lady Olebile Masire Prize is a prize awarded to the best final year degree student in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
Besides studying at the University of Botswana, he was also engaged as Part-Time Teaching Assistant and CCNA Instructor in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Botswana, Part-Time lecturer for Management Information Systems in the CCE Department, University of Botswana and is currently now a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Botswana.
Mr. Sajid Sheikh is Motswana by birth. He has worked with Business Promoter for 4 years (2005 – 2009) in the areas of marketing, branding and publicity material development, technology identification and sourcing including training in IT and computer use. He served as Director of Operations to Business Promoter from May 2005 to February 2009. He has also got more than 5 years experience in public relations, graphic designing, website designing, production of publications etc. Mr. Sajid M. sheikh also initiated and started the “The Digest” magazine of Botswana as the pioneer editor to which he served until February2009 as a project of Business Promoter producing the first five issues.
Sajid also served as an I.T. Consultant at TinyShed (Pty) Ltd to provide support to the Global Libraries Technical Support Services Contract tender won under ACHAP from January 2009 to March 2009. Mr. Sajid M. Sheikh in March 2009 joined BOTUSA/CDC Botswana, an agency of the U.S. Diplomatic Mission where he served as IT Trainer till February 2011 (2 years). With his job with the US Embassy, he received 3 awards from the Department of States, Unites States of America (US Embassy in Botswana):
1. An award in recognition of special efforts and superior performance in October 2009
2. An award in recognition of outstanding service for outstanding leadership and creativity managing the layout and printing of the PEPFAR 2008 Annual Report in June 2010
3. An Extra Mile Award for being selected the employee of the month for November 2010 in February 2011
Mr. Sajid M. Sheikh is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Botswana.
